At Peach Tree, we are a family - we are brothers and sisters by the blood of Christ. One of the most common pieces of feedback we hear is "what a friendly, welcoming group" we are! However, we know that there are friendly groups of people in many places, under many names, and professing many different teachings. While we know that "By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another," (John 13:35,) we know that our love for Jesus is demonstrated by faithfully keeping His commandments (John 14:15.) "An hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for such people the Father seeks to be His worshipers. God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth." (John 4:23, 24) When seeking to find a congregation to worship with, there is nothing more important that what that group professes to be the truth of God.
Our Beliefs
There
is salvation in no one else. "Jesus said to him, 'I am
the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the
Father, but through Me.'" (John 14:6) "And there is
salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under
heaven that has been given among men, by which we must be
saved." (Acts 4:12)
A
person must believe (trusting obedience) in Jesus Christ.
"He who believes in the Son has eternal life; but he who
does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of
God abides on him." (John 3:36)
A
person must repent of his sins. "Therefore having
overlooked the times of ignorance, God is now declaring to
men that all everywhere should repent, because He has fixed
a day in which He will judge the world in righteousness
through a Man whom He has appointed, having furnished proof
to all men by raising Him from the dead." (Acts 17:30-31)
A
person must confess Jesus as Lord. "Everyone therefore who
shall confess Me before men, I will also confess him before
My Father who is in heaven. But whoever shall deny Me
before men, I will also deny him before My Father who is in
heaven." (Matthew 10:32)
A
person must be baptized in order to be a child of God. "Or
do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into
Christ Jesus have been baptized into His death? Therefore we
have been buried with Him through baptism into death, in
order that as Christ was raised from the dead through the
glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of
life." (Romans 6:3, 4) "For you are all sons of God
through faith in Christ Jesus. For all of you who were
baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ."
(Galatians 3:26, 27)
A
person must remain faithful in order to be
saved. "But when a righteous man turns away from his
righteousness, commits iniquity, and does according to all
the abominations that a wicked man does, will he live?
All his righteous deeds which he has done will not be
remembered for his treachery which he has committed and his
sin which he has committed; for them he will die." (Ezekiel
18:24) "How much severer punishment do you think he
will deserve who has trampled under foot the Son of God, and
has regarded as unclean the blood of the covenant by which
he was sanctified, and has insulted the Spirit of grace?
(Hebrews 10:29)
