We, and the population of Zambia, are so blessed that there are people like Roy and Kathi in this world, who have dedicated their entire lives to spreading God’s Word and to the people of Zambia. Remember them and their efforts in your prayers and contributions.
Roy’s Biography
Namwianga Mission; Zambia
Roy – Bio, October 2, 2009
This is Roy’s response to a request for a biography, to tell us a little more about
how he came to be at Namwainga and a bit about himself. Thank you, Roy,
for such a wonderful (and quick!) reply.
I was born, raised and educated through high school here in Zambia, the son and grandson of missionaries. I later earned two degrees from Harding [University in Searcy, Arkansas.] I started to teach here in 1968.
Kathi came a few years later with her Zambian husband from York, Nebraska. Her first marriage failed, and later we married in 1993. Kathi had already begun orphan care, and this has mushroomed to about 100
children. I stopped teaching a couple years ago and spend full time now with church planting and
parenting a houseful of teenagers.
We are building another house, and when that is done we hope to put most of our efforts into being sure
the orphan and street kid project continues after we are dead. We want to build an endowment that will keep the project funded for the next 100 years.
